First integrated green construction code poised for 2010 debut - 2009-12-21 19:44:35 | Consulting-Specifying Engineer

Thought this might give us some insight as to where green is going in 2010. It will become very mainstream.

Response

Thanks, Sergio, for taking the initiative on this. I too, believe we are off to good start and yes, the budget will be our very first business item. There will also be some fun items, along the way as we work to make the Montgomery County Branch the “clearing house for Green” in the Branch service area. As Sergio says, lets make this happen!

Happy Holiday Season to all,

Michael

My First Posterous Post

Fellow USGBC Branch Team,

We met last week and introduced ourselves and talked about where we stood in the formation of the branch.  We determined that our branch was to be called the Montgomery County USGBC Branch and we were to serve Montgomery County and beyond.  The Wednesday after we met, Paul, Michael & I all met up with the current & incoming chair of the Houston Chapter as well as the Executive Director to discuss our signing of the Memorandum of Agreement.  This document confirms what we already had discussed in terms of how the branch is to operate.  We went over several details concerning the bylaws and the agreement itself and at the end of the meeting signed the document.  We are now a “provisional branch” of the Gulf Coast Area USGBC Chapter (a.k.a. Houston).  We are to proceed full speed and develop our budget for 2010.  We are to form our committee chairs (i.e. education, water resource, political, etc.) so if any of you have any aspirations towards one or the other please let us know and we can task you for the job.  More details on this topic soon.  For now I want to get us all to respond through the use of this system to see if it is going to work for us.  Please, at the very least, give it a try.  The sooner the better.  Thanks.

I look forward to getting this branch kicked off.  You will be hearing from several of the team members in the next coming days as our leadership team begins to take shape.  Rest assured that all of you are important in the success of this branch.  Do not let a little thing like occasional emails deter you from contacting me or any other team member.  Take the initiative and start up a dialog.  Let’s make this thing happen!

Happy Holidays!

Sergio Grado
